A friend of mine sent me a video a few years ago of something that very few people will ever see. It was a close up POV video of someone playing one of Marcus Gilmore's personal ride cymbals. With the kind of access I had to this information that drummers are constantly pondering, I knew I had to do my best to recreate that sound that so many people are looking for. The result of that opportunity I had is the fan favorite Storm Series.
The Goal of the Series
The goal is simple, make a cymbal that is hyper complex, but never harsh on the ears, and always as playable as any other cymbal with dynamics, exploration, and smoothness to tie it all together. Marcus' cymbals all have that quality that makes his sound unique, and that is what we are capturing here.
